Update: Due to the pandemic and the state of our economy, we have not been able to hold our annual fundraising events for the past two years. This has greatly impacted the number of people we are able to help. Thankfully, with the help of a few donors and a few companies in the area, we have been able to maintain and help a few individuals and families that have been impacted by breast cancer.
Normally around this time we are reaching out to you for sponsorships for our golf outing as well as donations. Instead our calls and a mailing will go out with a request for your help.
Thank you very much. August 30, 2022

More About Tawnia
In 2001, Tawnia Lynn Comer (TLC), resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana was diagnosed with breast cancer at the young age of 33. At the time, she was a single mom to a 12 year old daughter and 2 year old twin boys. After undergoing a mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation, she lost her battle to breast cancer a year and a half later. As loved ones to Tawnia, we witnessed first hand the hardships that accompany fighting a devastating disease. These hardships were numerous and insurmountable. Not only did Tawnia have to physically, emotionally and financially fight for her life, she also had to care and provide for her children and home all at the same time. Unfortunately, we understand the strain that breast cancer not only causes on a person’s body, but also on their family and loved ones.
After Tawnia’s passing, we wanted to keep her memory alive by reaching out to others in our own community. We wanted to be able to ease the economic hardship that can occur from battling breast cancer. In memory of Tawnia, we held our first fundraisers in 2005 & 2006. We donated the money raised from these fundraisers to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. At the conclusion of our 2006 fundraiser, we decided to create our own nonprofit organization. Our decision was based on the need and desire to be able to help LOCAL women and families. We wanted to be able to keep all of the money raised in our area. Through first hand experience, we determined there were several national organizations dedicated to breast cancer research and education, but very few resources available at the local level to aid individuals DURING their fight. Thus, the TLC Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. was formed for charitable purposes in Allen County of Indiana.
